Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade
The process of upgrading an item, often known as "upping," improves an item's stats. Each upgrade increment provides an increase in linearity of the stats of a particular.
Players can recycle up to six items at once to gain an ability to gauge the level of each of the item's upgraded components. The cost of recycling a piece of equipment increases with their rarity and item level.
Upgrade components
In Guild Wars 2, an item upgrade is a way to increase the stats on your armor and weapons. This can be accomplished through a variety of methods through the use of upgrade components or by increasing an item's rarity or mark level. A lot of items can be reforged to boost their stats.
Upgradable items can be found throughout the game, both within the world and as rewards for missions. Players can also craft them. The primary method to upgrade equipment is by making use of upgrade components which are items that can be inserted into equipment. Most equipment has slots to upgrade and some require a certain level of upgrade. Some upgrade components offer specific bonuses, while others offer general bonuses.
There are a variety of upgrade elements available in the game. These include universal upgrades, inscriptions, and jewels. The universal upgrades, such as gemstones and enchantments can be placed on any kind of equipment and offer lower bonuses than upgrades that are specific to equipment. Glyphs can be placed in gathering tools, and provide various benefits, from increasing the speed of the item's collection to providing additional crafting materials.
To upgrade an item, click it in your inventory and open the Upgrade window. The preview will appear on the right side of the screen. It will show the expected stats after the upgrade. The Upgrade button at the bottom will show blocked if you don't have enough of either.

The number of upgrade components needed for a specific item can be seen in the upper-right corner of the window for upgrading. The cost of upgrading increases depending on the rarity and level of the item. However you can cut down on the cost by purchasing upgrades from a merchant, or trading them with other players.
Most weapons can be improved by adding a prefix, such as a rune, or an insignia, and others can be improved by adding a suffix. These upgrades alter the name of the item and add an adjective, such as "Radiant" or "Minor vigor. There are some exceptions, however. the noninscribable wands, foci and shields from the Prophecies and Factions campaigns, which are not upgradeable with any mods in any way.
Glyphs
Glyphs are a way to convey information via visuals. They animate in order to grab the viewer's eye and entice curiosity. The animation of glyphs resembles the body language, making them more effective in transmitting the message of a language barrier. Glyphs also evoke a sense of familiarity in the brain, which increases retention of the message.
Each glyph can increase a stat's value by a certain range. This is clearly displayed on the item's page when you open it in the Glyph Storage. This is not the actual amount by which glyphs can improve a stat, but the maximum amount it can do so. The value of the glyph depends on the tier and the quality of the item you are enchanting.
Most upgrade components slotted into items are not able to be repaired or replaced without removing the gear in question, with the exception of legendary equipment and upgrades. If you have a glyph or rune you don't want to use, but it hasn't been incorporated to gear yet, you can move the item to a different piece by selecting the Upgrade Glyphs menu in the Glyphs Panel. This will create an entirely new Glyph Set with the selected glyph.
You can remove a glyph by using a Black Lion Salvage Kit, or an Ascended Salvage tool. The item on which the glyph is located will be destroyed, but the upgraded item can be recovered with the glyph shards.
When you remove an item after adding a glyph, the shards of that glyph will disappear. You can also add an inscription to your equipment to give it a bonus. Deferred Damage, for example can store damage, and then be dealt slowly to the wearer rather than all at once. This is beneficial for players who are taking many hits from enemies however do not want to be overwhelmed.
Reroll tokens
Reroll tokens can be used to change the affixes that are placed on weapons and equipment. They can be obtained from a variety of sources, such as mysterious boxes, rare drops from skulled monsters, or by killing bosses. Each reroll gives the player an affix randomly chosen and usually better than what they had prior to. Reroll tokens can also be used to upgrade weapon stats to cause more damage or bonuses.
Items that have been rerolled do not appear in the item upgrade menu, but they can still receive upgrades. These rerolled items can be recycled by pressing the "upgrade" button which alters the appearance of the window and allows up to six items to be chosen to recycle. The level gauge is increased by recycling an item. The amount is determined by the item's rarity as well as its own level, so items with higher levels are more useful to recycle than lower-level ones.
Players can also use Reroll Tokens and Star Remnants to roll rerolling weapons to upgrade units. item upgrades will roll a % chance of a weapon's traits. If it is higher, then the weapon is upgraded. If it rolls lower, the weapon remains unchanged. Weapons can be upgraded up to three times.
Rerolling is a great method to improve an item. However, players must be aware that the total ilvl is reduced by the number the rerolls required to bring it to the final ilvl. This is evident on rings and Diadems, as they have no other options for raising ilvl.
Some players have complained that the reroll system is expensive. It would be fairer to allow people to pay for it using money or food items, which allows them to make changes to their builds without having to spend too much time. The developers do not plan to implement paid rerolls at this stage in the game's development. Instead, they're planning add an option to change the race in the future.
Leveling
There are many ways to increase the level of an item upgrade. The first is to increase the amount of upgrade which boosts the value of an upgrade for a given stat. The alternative is to increase the effect of the upgrade, which boosts damage or healing for the stat. The base item can be upgraded to a more advanced upgrade type. The upgraded item will keep its iLevel, but be upgraded to reflect the effects of the upgraded item.
When you upgrade items It is crucial to keep in mind that upgrades aren't always planned. In most cases a better roll is determined by glyphs. However, there are times when a greater or special roll can occur. The type of the item will determine the iLevel. If you upgrade a rare or unique item to a unique item type, then it has a chance of gaining an upper level.
Upgrading items can be costly, particularly when you're upgrading an item of equipment from the standard to the legendary track. The cost of upgrading a piece of equipment will depend on the iLevel it's built upon as well as the number of upgrade levels. Certain upgrade tracks require crests to be completed in order to move on to the next level.
If you're fortunate the upgraded item will reach the maximum level on its upgrade track and gain an additional benefit. This will give you a substantial boost in the upgrade value of the item. The bonus effect will vary with each upgrade level, though. In general, the upgrade effect is increased a value of +3.
Depending on the item's level of base and upgrade path, the iLevel of the upgraded item will also change. For example an item that has been upgraded from a rare or exclusive item to an exceptional item will have a chance to gain the Enhanced Defense of the base type of item.
